PLEASE NOTE: The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) is now accepting applications for state certification for massage therapist and massage practitioner. Please visit the CAMTC for information and an application. You must either be certified by CAMTC or permitted by the Police Department in order to practice massage therapy in the Town of Los Gatos. You must also obtain a business license from the Town whether you are certified by the State or permitted by the Town.

Massage Therapy Ordinance
The Town of Los Gatos has adopted an ordinance regulating massage therapy establishments.  The ordinance language can be found in Chapter 14 of the Los Gatos Municipal Code.

Massage Therapy Ordinance - Permit Process
A person desiring to practice massage therapy in the Town of Los Gatos must submit an application to obtain a permit to practice massage therapy.  The permitting process, which is outlined in the Town Code has several steps:

 - Completing an Application
 - Participating in a Background Check (Fingerprinting, Criminal History Check, and Photograph)
 - Documenting Required Education (300 Hours)
 - Providing a Copy of Insurance
 - Paying Permit Fees
 - Obtaining a Business License
