The Los Gatos and Monte Sereno Community Garage Sale gives participants a chance to clean out their garages, attics, storage sheds and closets without sending those valuable items to the landfill.
Residents of the Town of Los Gatos and City of Monte Sereno are invited to hold garage sales at their homes, join with neighbors to hold block sales, or get together with their community group to hold a group sale. The Town of Los Gatos and City of Monte Sereno will provide marketing for the event and the sellers keep the cash - it’s that easy!
The Community Garage Sale is a partnership between the Town of Los Gatos and City of Monte Sereno. This event emphasizes recycling, reuse and giving while fostering a strong sense of community spirit in Los Gatos. It provides the opportunity to get acquainted with neighbors and promote responsible and sustainable practices for our environment.
2009 Community Garage Sale
This year, the Community Garage Sale will be a part of our Second Chance Drive, and will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009. We invite Town of Los Gatos and City of Monte Sereno residents to participate by holding a garage sale at your home, a block sale with your neighbors or a group sale with your school, church or community group at a location within the Town of Los Gatos or City of Monte Sereno. The County of Santa Clara has opted out of participating this year due to changes in their franchise agreement with West Valley Collection and Recycling.
The Saturday following the Community Garage Sale, the Town will hold its annual Second Chance Day Donation Drive. On Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 9:00am-3:00pm, we will accept specific items for local shelters and non-profits at the Los Gatos Neighborhood Center. If you would like to participate in the 2009 Community Garage Sale, Register Here by Thursday, September 17, 2009. All registered sale addresses will be listed in our 2009 Shopper's Guide along with the categories of items being sold at your sale. The Shopper's Guide will be available online and at various Los Gatos retailers the week of the sale. We will also advertise the Community Garage Sale in the San Jose Mercury News and Los Gatos Weekly Times. You are welcome to place ads for your own sale in local newspapers or on the web, should you wish.
